A fever is the body's natural response to fighting infections such as Covid-19, and in-depth research has shown that infrared (IR) camera based thermography can effectively be used to detect elevated body temperatures.
Since the Covid-19 outbreak, significant time and resources have been invested in the development of screening technology to provide an additional safety measure to help keep the general public safe, and contain the spread of the virus.
Harlequin precisely measures the temperature at the corner of the eyes, as this yields the closest correlation to core body temperature. Other methods of mass fever screening such as infrared (IR) temperature guns, contact thermometry and self-reporting health declarations are questionable in terms of effectiveness.
The technology can be deployed in most locations but primarily expected to be used in factories, offices, airports, seaports, universities and sports venues.
Spookfish has invested significant resource and time to leverage its core expertise in thermal imaging and automation to provide a solution adhering to key principles of both British (BS EN IEC 80601-2-59:2019) and International (ISO/TR 13154:2017) standards on fever screening.
This work is on-going and has been hugely bolstered by the recent award by Innovate UK to help innovative businesses fast track development due to Covid-19.
Before investing in Fever Screening technology ensure the following four key criteria are considered:
Non contact, non invasive fever screening
Corner of the eye measurement location
Precise correlation to core body temperature
Mass screening one person at a time
Rolling average measurement
Combination of both thermal and visible imaging
Auto-ambient correction
Critical alarm system (Visual, Audio and E-mail Alert)
Automated system
Report generation (Daily and audit trails)
Intuitive user interface
